Pros

You get to meet and work with a lot of really great people (the volunteers.)

Cons

LOOOOOONG hours, I once told my boss that I felt guilty for "only working 14 hours" -- if you work out the hours worked against the pay you'd literally make more money at McDonalds (at least there you would make overtime) -- So there's no work/life balance more like a work/work balance. Slowly being ruined by Marxists from the inside out (starting with National.)
