Pros

Scouting is a fantastic program that brings families together and helps youth develop their skills and interest. Executives get good exposure to many different aspects of society and opportunities to develop many skills. Some councils are better than others.

Cons

Complete disregard for work-life balance and executive's personal development. Fraudulent pursuit of goals (especially membership) are often encouraged by management. 60-80 hours per week at very low pay are the norm. Group-think mentality keeps getting the organization in trouble. Lacks innovation.

Pros

This is a great opportunity to work with children of all ages and backgrounds. Also the Boy Scouts will expose you to a variety of fields and the people who work in those fields. Great area for networking!

Cons

The main con is that the pay is not the greatest. Also the work can be difficult and stressful, for you will be dealing withe elementry school kids up to CEO's of major companies.
