Pros

Decent Competitive Pay, Good Health Insurance Benefits

Cons

- Working here you pretty much have little to no free time to do anything throughout the week unless you have a day off. Work weeks are from Thursday to Thursday and can start either at 7:30 am or 8:30 am while you leave at either 5:45 or 6:30. - Lack of accountability for managers is rampant. Managers basically do what they want, sign off of family members checks when they shouldn't, create a hostile work environment in terms of being too aggressive and when complaints are filed, nothing is done and it's business as usual. - Lack of careers advancement. In training, they preach that you hold the key to your advancement but that is far from the truth. When positions become available they preselect whom they want to get that position, regardless of how many apply. I knew some employees who had been in their same position for more than 7 years and could not advance further simply because favorites already had their promotion locked. - Favoritism. Managers have their favorites who can literally do no wrong. When complaints are filed, just like others, they are told it'll be handled yet nothing is done, it's swept under the rug. - Bad sales environment. Prior to midway in 2018, SSFCU was member oriented in terms of focusing on their needs rather than pushing products and now that money is being lost, there's a sales culture now and employees are dropping left and right. Sales are heavily pushed upon members old and new by way of disguising that you're building rapport when in actuality they are trying to see how many products they can push. If this new way is not embraced, you're reprimanded. -You get reprimanded for using too much of your earned sick leave, even when proof of a doctors visit is given.

Pros

Great branch experience where very basic accounting principles can be applied. Flexible with school schedule and opportunities for advancement.

Cons

Promotions will be based on sales and not a mix of knowledge of processes and sales.

Some managers are not fit to lead

Pros

Good benefits, coworkers hard working and friendly

Cons

Poor leadership and the company allows unit managers to determine PTO and sick leave policy decisions for exempt staff so there’s no consistency because the documented policy is followed. Unrealistic expectations prevail. Teamwork is non existent between departments. Managers refuse to give their staff access to internal and external subject matter experts which is necessary to complete assigned work. Executive management pays no attention to the hours their direct reports work. I reported to a VP and in the 3 months I was there I never saw her in before 9am and work later than 4:30 pm and tended to work from home a few days per week.
