Pros

If you are based In SC or Charlotte you are in an "okay" environment

Cons

If you are remote and not in SC or Charlotte don't bother. If You Don't Work In SC, don't bother The environment circles around the Clique centered in SC and the people are treated exponentially better and given perks and assistance that are not offered anywhere else. There is a culture of entitlement for SC employees that makes it hard to have a good attitude and excitement about your job. Executive management preaches a culture of flexibility and respect but front line managers have their "favorites" and it is grossly obvious that the favorites all reside in SC HR does not treat all employees with the same fairness and equity as other individuals within the team. At times it is point blank a hostile and toxic work environment. I know of an employee who needed to take FMLA leave for 3 months and was retaliated against for taking the leave to heal and was ultimately terminated. HR is in no way helpful, fair, empathetic or considerate when it comes to the employee. The stance of HR at Segra is to do every and anything possible that is in the best interest of Segra not the employee. Employees are expendable and treated as such. The HR department is full of people who are always ready to do a hatchet job on an employee at the whim of management and in some cases other employees. Back stabbing is rampant. Team members smile at you and "befriend" you and will slam you to other team members and management as soon as you are out of ear shot. If you do accept a position at Segra, my advice to you is to keep your head down, do your job and trust no one.

Pros

Great people, exciting new things all of the time. Many great people work here. Executives are always looking to improve and have a great vision.

Cons

Too many growing pains. Segra seems to care much more about making money than about people. Easily burns out their employees in most departments. Been working 60 hours a week in salary with empty promises of promotion for years. Not very good experiences with vacation/sick days, friend was let go when he was about to start FMLA leave. Lots of hidden office politics and people pushing their own agenda for themselves or their team without thinking if the greater good. Slow to change. Heavy amounts of "analysis paralysis" . Although there are some talented people in middle management there is to much work for the "worker bees' to do and to many middle managers supervising them. Took away several employee benefits over last few years.

Pros

The Coworkers were great, anyone above that was terrible.

Cons

Management is terrible, work schedule is horrendous. They cut everything of any sort of value once the two companies (Lumos and Spirit) merged. No Bonus, No Pension, No Raises. A few months after that, they cut 50 people like it was nothing. The management and new CEO fully believe in eliminating positions every year, it's been done that way at Lumos for 10 years. If you're lucky enough, they might offer you your position back at a discounted rate. There was not one happy in employee in that entire place. As an employee, your entire motive was to keep your head down and hope you weren't picked to get cut at their next round of job cuts where absolutely no logic (other to not get sued for any sort of discrimination) was applied.

Oh my, I hate that you feel this way! As for cutting everything of value, this information is incorrect. I would be happy to discuss this with you if you'd like. I won't get into all the details here, but I will say that Segra most certainly did give merit increases this past spring. I speak with employees every day that love it here. I'm very sorry that your experience hasn't been completely positive. Again, I would be happy to discuss this with you. Please reach out to Human Resources.
