Avoid the Security Team

Pros

Some great people work at this company, there are many kind and talented people that work for Selectquote. There is also access to a lot of educational resources.

Cons

This company, for one that has been around for so long, is very immature from a tech standpoint, from documentation, to processes, to infrastructure (this varies by team). The IT teams are not very cohesive, and there's lots of bickering and politics between the teams that prevents real work for being done. I will not speak on every IT team, but I will specifically say that the Security team is under awful management. With no balance between micromanaging and no management, it is a team that gets no respect due to the lack of real leadership. If you're lucky you'll get to learn a lot, but it is ultimately a team with no real leader, has no long term plans, that exists purely to tick off check boxes. The team has amazing analysts, and an amazing Project Management team to back them up, but they are severely stunted by management.

Pros

Remote job Decent benefits, but nothing great

Cons

Pay is terrible. $13 per hour + little to no commission. The commission structure is extremely top heavy. The only people here who make decent money are the few top agents. They only do well because they are given all the good leads and lower reps are doomed to fight over the scraps nobody wants. There's no way to control your production here. Calls you can take are limited. They tell you all the leads you get are warm leads from people who are seeking out insurance, but they aren't. The leads are all people who were cold called and harassed into staying on the phone by being told lies. Indian call centers farm them and transfer them to us. By the time we get to speak with them they are pissed off and hang up immediately. This is an issue because they only give you 10-15 calls per day and they judge you heavily on your close rate. This company is completely at fault for the failure of their agents. Lead quality is the only thing that matters in this job. Don't work here. You'll make nothing and you'll hate it.

Pros

Still trying to find them

Cons

These people are soulless and will steal everything you hold dear. The money isn’t great, the benefits stink, leadership is worthless and only looking to line their pockets and the HR team is excited when they have to lay people off and don’t respond to any questions.
