Pros

Work from home and that’s just about it!

Cons

Training was rushed, Low comp plan, you’re really making 5 dollars per product when you begin. Then they find ways to take money from your compensation every month. They showed us their AEP check stubs during training hooking us in saying how much money we’ll make during AEP. The company also said no cold calling when all it is, is cold calling. They hire a third party to reach out and tell the client lies about all of the amazing benefits we’re going to give them and then transfer them to us. Once they get on the line with us, we’re supposed to bait and switch them into a plan they really don’t need. They make it seems as though we’re helping elderly people when in reality we’re really not. The leads are absolutely terrible. Selectquote hired thousands of people this year so there weren’t enough leads to go around so the agents that were level 3-5 were treated like dirt. We were told to cold call clients on a no sales list and harass them to try to make a sale. I felt terrible harassing the elderly people. They come out with a new script every week that we need to read to the clients to try to trick them into getting a plan with us. This company is the worse place I’ve ever worked for. The set unrealistic goals, managers complain about occupancy when you barely get any inbound calls. The managers only care about their level 1 and 2 agents. Selectquote just fired over 800 of us right before Christmas and offered us a severance pay of 500 dollars. That company is awful. STAY AWAY!!! AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!!!!

Pros

Truthfully, there are not a lot of pro's working for this company. They even keep your insurance license appointments when they let you go so you can't make money anywhere else.

Cons

You will still to this day see multiple advertisements for inside sales reps that say "From" $70,000 or "From" $70,000 - $150,000" When you use the word "From" this indicates the minimum for the position. This is NOT what you get. What you get is $9.62 per hour. Told - We gave you lunch, your not allowed to eat away from your desk. Take a bite or two between calls. Don't get up from your desk for anything, period. If you do, you will be stared down by every manager or supervisor in the area. Work-Life balance is crap - 6 day work weeks, if you don't work a Saturday, you are nor formally reprimanded but you sure hear about it on Monday. If you need to take a day off because of medical issues or you kids are sick, just know your going to be written up. They say they want what is best for the clients. But this is NOT the truth. The truth is, just sell them a plan, you might save the client $5 on a copay but the other benefits of the plan are worse, doesn't matter, why didn't you sell them that plan? High pressure sales tactics for these seniors. I was even reprimanded because I didn't sell or change the plan of a client that was in Hospice. They really don't care about the client, only their bottom dollar. If you have any kind of ethics don't come to this company.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. We are sorry that you did not have a positive employment experience with SelectQuote. Our sales environment is a very competitive and dynamic one. Although we do strive to prepare employees for this reality, it may not be a fit for everyone. We wish you better opportunities ahead of you.

Pros

None that come to mind. They pay for some licenses.

Cons

A Typical day- Dreadfully clock-in to make your $14.50/hr 8AM- pointless meeting listening to an agent make a potential client feel horrible about their current situation so SQ can get their hands on $78/mo of the clients $700/mo SS check. The trainers tell you to "dumb yourself down to the client's level." No need to worry, that client will cancel. SQ retention rate (policies that stay inforce) is around 30%. 9AM-12PM- pressing a button on a poorly made SQ proprietary website to take a lead another agent pushed through to you (They are not interested in what you're selling). Basically you are a telemarketer and SQ treats you like one. No respect for your professional license, college degree, they don't care about you or their clients. 12PM-1PM- Lunch 1PM-6PM- More uninterested leads that you were hired to "make interested." If you think that's what marketing is for, you are wrong. Maybe just maybe you sell a deal. $700 Annual Premium. Even after work you are constantly stressed because upper management holds your job over your head like a lab rat and cheese. You can never figure out what your commission will be because SQ will find every possible way to take it from you. Didn't get an email address, SQ's scumbag hands are taking 5% out of your pocket. The company is on it's way to bankruptcy. They make false promises to their employees and to their board members. They promise streets of gold and deliver trash dirt roads. Do not believe a positive thing you are told about this company, run. Keep your head up and keep looking!
