Not a Serious Company

Pros

Remote is the only pro with this company.

Cons

I was with the company for almost 6 years. I loved my first 4 years at SelectQuote. The last 2 years were a nightmare. We got a new Vice President of Recruiting and everything went downhill. I was in Talent Acquisition before I left we had 9 managers overseeing 48 employees. Even with that low headcount it would take on average 15-20 minutes to get a response from a manager via chat(we were all remote). I had a manager that would go house hunting and then once he bought a house started working on projects during company time. My last manager spent her company time running errands and planning her wedding. I would often be told to reach out to another manager to get something completed. Other coworkers had managers that are relentless micromanagers. There is no career development here. You get promoted based on friendships, not experience. My last manager never focused on my career developments. One on one time was spent gossiping about co-workers or talking about her wedding. This is not a serious company where you can build a long-term career.

Pros

The training and trainers were absolutely amazing, but they lie about only taking inbound calls. It is ONLY considered an inbound call because another representative is dialing any and everyone with a working number and transfers them to you while luring them with promises of receiving hundreds of dollars in groceries per month. It's a bait and switch job. Training paid $18/hour and as soon as you start production it drops to $13/hour.

Cons

Low pay once you're in production, horrible micromanagers that pit you against other agents, crappy leads that have been called hundreds of times or are already enrolled in the best plan they can get

Pros

SelectQuote has decent sales training, and they do a decent job of onboarding new agents.

Cons

If you're licensed in difficult states, such as North Dakota, Maryland, South Dakota, New Mexico, Minnesota or Alaska, the majority of your calls as a new agent will come from those states. In down-times, those are the states where your outbound calls will be queued from as well. Either cancel your licenses in these states before starting, or be prepared to be very challenged from an income and advancement standpoint.
