      Terrible Company for Sales

      Good product. Used to be a fun environment

      Cons

      They are a product-centric company with zero regard or respect for sales people. Changes quota sometimes every month with larger and larger targets and smaller and smaller payouts. Either you hit the new targets or you are gone. Even if you consistently hit targets, you be gone at the whim of upper management when they decide to have another mass layoff in hopes of extracting another 5% to the share price. Terrible place to work

      Unclear Expectations

      We still do not have our quota for the month of January 2 weeks into the month. We’re going through the second shuffling of our accounts to occur in the last 6 months. Our paths to promotion are non existent. All positions are being filled by outside hires. There are huge pay discrepancies of people who are at the same level in the same role.

      Dear Colleague, Career development opportunities were presented to the entire Sales team in Q4. All the criteria were explained, and the future steps were described in detail. We also mentioned that we would be moving forward with this strategy starting from Q1, and so we do. It's fair to mention that we have plenty of vertical and horizontal opportunities to grow within the company. Regarding compensation, the shift from the Sales band model to the Segmented sales model took place in July 2023.       Unorganized mess

      Great product. Great sales people

      Cons

      AWFUL leadership. Make decisions behind closed doors on who stays and who goes without looping in a direct manager. They don’t care about people who have spent years selling semrush. They want new fresh faces that aren’t going to speak out about constant changes to the sales org every 3-6 months. I could go on for days, but if you’re looking for a stable job - I encourage you to look elsewhere.
