Pros

they have a lot of work if you want all of it!

Cons

When you're happy with the hours you have, they WILL NOT LEAVE YOU ALONE....they keep harassing you to take more and more and more. I wish they would ask and if they are told that you can't (or WON'T) take another job or client, for WHATEVER REASON, they'll accept your answer and drop it!!

Pros

Until my last month, had abundant work with them. They offer reasonable training.

Cons

I worked full time for Senior Helpers I was given work all the time. Often overworked. One time 130 hours in a week. One day after my current client was over., I called in for more work but was repeatedly told by the schedulers, who said there was "no work" at the moment. This seemed odd, because I know they were a busy company..i have been told by many that I am a compassionate, responsible wonderful Caregiver/cna. One of the inside staff. finally told me they , the schedulers had been told not to give me any more work.this was after months of lying by them to my face! Upper management, when asked about this said they were "telling me now" about the decision! With no apology or explanation. In retrospect I have known a number of caregivers who have been treated like this by Senior Helpers. The company doesn't care if you burn out. They are in the business to make a profit I am glad I was hired and gained experience, but highly disappointed in the way they handled my termination.

Pros

You can say yes or no to taking on a case, being able to decide your own schedule (to a degree), helping to care for the elderly and helping them to be able to stay in their homes rather than be place in a home.

Cons

Very low pay for each visit and poor mileage reimbursement. Restricted autonomy. The fact of the matter is that this is a franchise, and when push comes to shove, all that matters to the higher ups is their bottom line and making money. Even though CHHA's are working under your license, management discourages you from truly fulfilling your responsibilities as an RN. You are told to not act like you are a supervisor of the CHHA when you make a visit to check up on a patient and their aide, but to act like you are a co-worker or friend, even though part of your job is to evaluate their performance. Management actually said "let me be the bad guy" rather than have the RN correct a CHHA doing something incorrectly.
