Pros

Salary - they are good at paying you a lot of money and also great benefits

Cons

They have zero clue what to take this SDK! Because the team never ever leaves the building. They are building things out of their own heads without speaking much to users. They have no data to support why the invest in those features that no one wants. In more than a year, they have given no additional use of digitized receipts to the end user. It still does not integrate with any book keeping software. A sales man CEO can shove coal for only so long. Soon banks, that are really dumb enough to pay for this, will realize zero value in this solution. How else you explain their competitor hubdoc showing so much traction. This is a sales driven company with no data oriented outlook. They cannot even define any KPI coherently. As soon as you talk of data, entire 'management' team starts sweating. All they do is process. No outcome driven. Only output driven.

We work hard to ensure that we are compensating above market rate and providing employees with a comprehensive benefits package--we're glad you appreciated it! To address your other points, Sensibill’s solution does have unique challenges as a B2B2C company. There’s a complex relationship between fintechs, enterprise banks, and the end-user. As a company building a solution to help end-users, we’re very interested in building a delightful experience, creating wow-moments, and digging into what users need in a receipt management solution. However, we have to balance these ideal end-user expectations against standards that enterprise banks expect, including strict accessibility, security and privacy guidelines. These elements have constraints that a B2C product doesn’t always need to consider. That being said, we have a Product Team that has spent a lot of time and energy learning about the pain points and needs of our end-users. We’ve done customer empathy sessions, guerilla research, formal surveys with companies like Barlow Research Associates, and intensive usability and accessibility testing to learn about how people interact with our product. All of this data has been collected to help us build a solution that works both for our partner banks, and for their end-users. This goes beyond simple UX/UI enhancements, and delves into their expectations around how our product can help them run their businesses. The work our Product Team is doing is a continuous and iterative process to help us build an accurate and useful product. We’re working on defining the product roadmap, and we’ll be sure to prioritize communicating it effectively so that there are no misconceptions in the future. We know that we have a less typical business model and it isn’t for everyone. However, for some people, solving these problems is exciting. We’re lucky to have a lot of people on our team who are passionate about the unique challenges of a B2B2C operation.

Pros

- there are some very smart and talented people working at this company (except for most management) - coworkers are super friendly - pretty flexible hours - benefits are great - office is in a great location, lots of great restaurants nearby - standing desks

Cons

- the culture used to be great, now it's toxic - company only seems to recognize those who put in overtime - does not value those who work really hard and do great work but who want work/life balance - every project is rushed and quality suffers - salaries are not competitive - lack of experience on exec team and unwillingness to take responsibility - environment is not conducive to innovation and creativity

Thank you for your feedback. You’re right about the talent and intelligence at Sensibill - there’s an abundance of both here! We’ve worked hard to build a place where people like coming to work and enjoy spending time with their colleagues. As for the “toxicity” you describe - I suspect what you’re feeling is an aversion to some of the changes. The work culture, our mission, and even our vision has changed in the past 6 months. In truth, these are natural growing pains of a venture-backed, high-growth startup transitioning to a scaleup. Even so, that’s not an excuse. We acknowledge we’re not praising, rewarding, or celebrating as much as we should be, but it’s not for a lack of recognition - we wouldn’t be where we are if it weren’t for every single individual's output. We take full responsibility for not communicating that well enough to you while you were here, and we will do better moving forward.

Pros

- Downtown Toronto - Really nice people - Some really talented developers, customer success folks, and designers

Cons

- Very real and serious lack of leadership. - Very little professional development or career growth. - Toxic atmosphere. Full of gossip. It wasn't an enjoyable place to come to work every day. - Extreme turnover. Please trust the negative reviews of Sensibill, there are enough of them.

Many of the points raised in this review have been addressed in other responses, however, we do want to highlight that we support professional development and career growth in multiple ways. Employees are encouraged to advocate for themselves and have the autonomy to build the career that they want. We have annual professional development funding available to all employees, as well as access to lunch and learns, conferences, workshops, and other skill-building opportunities. People are often promoted from within, and we’ve also supported career pivots into other areas of the company. We’re also currently in the process of a major job description and compensation review. This is an important first step in creating clarity around our salary bands, what’s required to progress through that structure, and what alternative paths are available to someone exploring other interests.
