Pros

Real fun people, family type feel, flexible.

Cons

Sometimes too much flexibility and relaxed turns in to doing zero work at all. Product as most reviews here say needs big help and diversification in the FI space. The technology is boring and old and doesn't get used, usage numbers are worrying. Management needs to be replaced with experienced leaders who have an open mindset. My prediction is that Sensibill will crash at some point soon.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m happy you had a positive experience interacting with our team during your tenure although it is a shame that you disagree on the value prop of our product to FIs and their end customers. We certainly do believe that receipt management solves an important job-to-be-done for an underserved customer segment even if it may not appear flashy from the outside. With respect to your advice on product and leadership, we’ve recently brought on a talented and proven VP Product, Amber Foucault. She’s built strategic and innovative products countless times and, in her six months here, she has been shaking up the technology team for the better. I do hear your point regarding diversification of our product portfolio, and I agree with that advice. Already under Amber’s leadership, we’ve begun to expand our data product portfolio, while also building and testing concepts in adjacent spaces, which makes me quite enthusiastic that the diversification that you are recommending is on its way!

Pros

Very relaxed environment. Almost no pressure and only the minimum effort is required from you. Great location. Lots of snacks. Good benefits

Cons

CEO and COO don't have a clue on how to run the business! They spend more time creating process for the sake of creating process and run the company like it is a massive corporation. They keep hiring ex IBM employees - COO ex company - when they should hire people expert in scaling up the business. Sensibill is a 70 people startup and should be agile and fast but it's slow and inefficient like an old 100.000 people company! We had meetings over meetings to discuss (actually, no real discussion, just a long lecture!) processes created by the COO that was so complicated no-one understood and no-one followed in the end. The product hasn't changed in years and in some cases it has even got worse. The sales guys rarely stay for more than one years. There is a very high turnover because people join, realize how bad the product, the process and the management are, and they leave! The company spend so much time advertizing how 'diverse' and 'inclusive' they are because there is not much else to talk about. In particular about the product! From the outside it looks like it's a HR company and not a receipt management one! It's like we don't care about promoting our product in the market. Don't trust the positive review written by the 'inner loop' of few people friends with the COO or HR. If you want to be a yesman while doing the bare minimum and you don't care about inefficiencies then this is the best place for you. If you want to get challenged everyday, keep growing with the company, if you want your voice to be heard (for real) then stay far away from Sensibill!

Thank you for taking the time to review Sensibill. We are sorry to hear that you had concerns around process and where we have focused the company’s resources and efforts. It’s understandable that process can sometimes be frustrating in a startup, but as a company that partners with financial institutions, we view process as a reliable way for us to ensure the safety and protection of our data. Have we always hit the right balance of process vs. outcome and speed? Absolutely not. As with everything in a startup, you try, you learn, and you improve. However, to build AI and machine learning technology that is also bank-tough, this is no simple achievement. We are very proud of the work of our product team and software engineers, who are dedicated to taking our product to new and exciting frontiers that we’ve never been to before. We want to make sure that we continuously improve on the processes that support them and that help the company scale, while delivering the same level of excellence that has allowed us to get to this stage of success in the first place. Particularly in light of our recent Series B funding, I agree with your perspective that we need to bring on more senior leadership with experience in scaling companies. Our founding team and early hires had a strong enterprise background; we have recently brought on some incredible executive talent in Partnerships, Product and Client Success with just this high-growth background. We’re incredibly excited to have them make Sensibill even better! With respect to your other points, we are happy to hear that you enjoyed the work environment and our employee benefits; our employee engagement survey shows our employees appreciate this too! As for your concerns regarding our Marketing focus, I think they are fair. As a B2B2C company, our Marketing has been focused on financial institutions and not on the broader consumer market, but we may have over-biased for industry. We do agree that we need to increase awareness of our receipts solution in users, and we intend to address this in the coming months. We welcome perspective, especially if it allows us to get better, so providing feedback in this forum can be helpful to us as we consider new ways to evolve our company. Thank you for raising your concerns with us and we wish you all the best!

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. While we are happy that you had such a great experience with your onboarding we’re disappointed to hear that the rest of your experience has been less than that. Feedback like this helps us identify our strengths and weaknesses and we value it immensely Overall, we have reviewed your feedback and I want to emphasize that we hear what you are saying. I quite appreciate some of the advice regarding onboarding and ensuring we have alignment on where we are heading and how we can all contribute. That is certainly our goal but it sounds like you did not benefit from that same clarity, and we are sorry about that. The People and Culture team has implemented an internal real-time feedback platform for all Sensibillians and I encourage you to use it and share with us what we can do to support you, your peers, and our leaders. Please be as specific as you can be so that we can be quick to address what you see as pain points. In the meantime, rest assured that we value our team immensely and we are continuing to put the right tools, support, and expectations in place so that you each feel as valued and important as you are! Kindest Regards, Jenn, VP of People
