many pros, a few major cons

Pros

The people are what makes this organization incredible. The outreach counselors, clinicians, program managers, maintenance crew, therapists etc etc. The majority are passionate and generous, and go above and beyond to provide support and care to the people we work with.

Cons

upper-level management and folks in administrative positions are out of touch and don't demonstrate any real concern for the quality of life of the majority of people who make this organization run. They refuse to pay a living wage salary to outreach staff i.e.- I've worked full-time for several years and can't afford to stay afloat. They do provide benefits that are on par with other agencies, but this doesn't make up for the low wages that are truly shameful when you learn the annual salary of the CEO.

Pros

Open and accepting workplace. You can be yourself here. Good stepping stone and place to gain experience for future jobs. Plenty of opportunities to work with different populations and wide range of work schedules/hours available. Good place to meet other like-minded individuals. Coworkers are a big help if you end up with good ones. Plenty of opportunity for overtime if looking for that as well.

Cons

Unbelievably disorganized. Corrupt company. Totally FOR profit under the guise of the title “Non-profit”. Chaotic, unstructured homes, poor communication. Clients needs and demands not able to be met due to understaffing. Poor pay rate. Very stressful working conditions that are not even attempted to be managed or regulated. Quick burnout rates and high turnover as a result.

Pros

They do amazing work. Their direct care staff works incredibly hard to take care of our clients. The only silver lining here (if you can put up with the dysfunction) is they have an unbeatable benefits package. Probably the best benefits package in the Valley.

Cons

Senior leadership is overpaid and out of touch, they refuse to see the real problems within the organization. We need leaders who are educated in business and have not been with the organization for 30+ years. We need fresh blood, to breath life into this dying organization.
