Run, don't walk

Pros

Wine Wednesdays once a month for morale.

Cons

Extremely disorganized and dishonest. Initially, I was told my starting date was being pushed back so they could update their training manual. When we did have training sessions on time (85% of the time it got canceled) the trainer was always saying she needed to update the cheat sheet documents. Training is disorganized and often goes on for 2 hours or more because they're behind on training. Multiple convoluted lessons in one session. Upper management has their favorites and it shows. Attorneys are not salaried after the first year. There are no partners at the firm. Extremely high turnover rate due to the firm only caring about metrics. Everyone is a number to them. They hire at least 2 new people weekly and are so busy training them that people hired 2 weeks ago get ignored for hours when needing help with a question. Speaking of questions, half the time you're told, "It's in the training document." What, the document you never updated? Hearing that after being reminded daily that HR "loves" answering questions, "reach out to me any time!" is disingenuous and mildly infuriating. Senior paralegals complain openly about juniors in the office-wide chat like they didn't start in that position themselves. Seniors whine when juniors take on more responsibility (taking a significant amount of stress off the seniors) and most are reluctant to help with questions when management is in a meeting, or oftentimes just left early that day. HR will call people out in the office-wide chat for mistakes rather than in a PM. Multiple new hires had to ask to work under a different senior due to seniors undermining juniors' work via complaints to HR, but will go and fix the issue themselves before the junior gets the chance to, effectively preventing any hands-on learning from mistakes and taking credit for the junior's work.

Pros

I really enjoy working here! The training was great, the metrics are realistic, I stay busy so the day goes by fast, the pay is better than every other job I applied for, you get paid holidays and a floating holiday, the office culture is good and everyone seems to really enjoy their jobs. I was hesitant after reading so many bad reviews, but I'm glad I took a chance since those reviews aren't recent. However, if you don't want to stay busy all day, you're not professional enough to show up on time, or you can't follow normal rules at a workplace, this probably isn't the job for you. They are very structured and expect professionalism. I also like that I don't have people hovering over me while I work all day; they trust us to do our jobs and do them well.

Cons

The health insurance is terrible. If they improved that, I think they would be able to keep people longer. I also wish we had the option to work from home from the beginning instead of after 6 months pending review, as 100% of our work is done on computers.
