Pros

The company's work from home policy is amazing. Very flexible. And the people generally do mean well.

Cons

There is a lot of talk about a "Sharecare Family" but there really isn't much family sense. There used to be, before all of the acquisitions. Now there are a bunch of layoffs and culture that is nonexistent because again, of all of the acquisitions and no desire to get everyone in the company together. There is also a lot of stepping on toes, cliquishness, and the tech team's favorite word is "no" when it should be "maybe, let's figure out how to achieve the end game you need." There is also little room for advancement, unless you're in the right department. Oh, and the medical insurance is cheap...but that's because it requires a lot of out-of-pocket spending. The company does seed an HSA plan in part to help pay for deductibles...but then they did layoffs right before they had to do the second seeding of this last year.

Thanks for sharing your personal insights. We’re disappointed to hear that your perception is that we’ve lost a sense of family, as we feel like our family has simply grown. We recognize this growth comes with challenges and can feel different in a lot of ways. That said, the acquisitions we’ve made were necessary to position us to serve the market with a single platform in a way that otherwise wouldn’t have been possible, and have increased our ability to impact the well-being of people on a global basis. All the decisions we make regarding the benefits we offer are made with careful consideration of our colleagues and their dependents. Each year, we partner with 3rd party consultants to assess our plans, with a key focus on offering competitive coverage, both from a cost and program perspective. By offering a Consumer Driven Health Plan (CDHP), we’re urging our colleagues to take an active role in their personal health management. Also, a CDHP provides the added benefit of a Health Savings Account (HSA), a personal rollover account with funds set aside specifically for health care costs. The competitive HSA seeding we offer helps colleagues to offset the out-of-pocket costs associated with this type of plan. To be clear, decisions made on the elimination of roles are based solely on business needs. We take those decisions very seriously and make every effort to support all our colleagues through a time we recognize is very challenging. We’re excited for the growth we’ve experienced as our strategic acquisitions have provided additional capabilities that give us a stronger position in the market. Those acquisitions have come with additional and very important benefits - including broadening the talent, skills and abilities of our teams – one of those being a larger HR group to support our colleagues. Thanks again for your feedback. As you’ve moved on to your next chapter, we wish you well.

Good career stop, but not likely a long-term job

Pros

Fast-paced but generally positive and friendly work culture. Remote work opportunities. Supportive, idealistic staff. Potential to contribute to something that will have a meaningful impact on peoples' lives. Atlanta HQ is nice, though cramped.

Cons

Constant management turnover, frequent acquisitions and unfocused executives mean priorities shift rapidly. Hard to have a sense of accomplishment when you finish one project--IF you finish; many projects are abandoned half-completed--and nobody seems to care because management has moved on to the next thing. Little upward mobility b/c upper positions are usually filled through acquisitions. Lots of employee churn--people seem to stay no more than a couple of years, on average.
