Pros

Sharpen is reinventing themselves as a thought leader, embracing passionate professionals committed to building world changing solutions. They are embracing a transparent, empowered work style providing near and long term opportunities for all employees. They have great, thought leading technology.

Cons

They have had fairly recent struggles with lack of management maturity. Fairly small company (can be a pro or con). They are in a rebuilding mode which created some short term challenges. Extremely positive direction and future

Solving challenging problems in a challenging industry

Pros

I’ve never been more mentally stimulated at work. There are tough, incredibly rewarding days of brainstorming and solving problems for the industry. Being in a startup, you get to wear different hats for different responsibilities—it’s great. You know that the work you are doing has a direct impact on the company. I’ve never felt like I was just plodding along doing work that didn’t matter.

Cons

The autonomy to build your own path is amazing—it’s also not for everyone. You have to be ready to take the ball and run with it. You’ll be unbelievably supported and encouraged along the way—but you have to be ready to own it.
