Pros

Remote work, good PTO, used to be able to write a lot of pros, but honestly this is all I can think of.

Cons

The company was purchased by Apollo Investment firm 4+ years ago and has completely ruined the company culture and morale. Every year we are asked to do more with less. We used to get quarterly bonus, stock, merit increases and there was company pride with high morale. Now, they have HR out of Minnesota (because Silicon Valley salaries too high) when they acquired LIfetouch. This has systematically changed the culture. HR and recruiting used to be fun/cool which influenced the talent selections which effects the culture. Now HR is run by uptight boring corporate type suits. You can be professional and be fun at the same time, but HR at Shutterfly is where fun goes to die. They actually are actively trying to get employees to write good reviews on Glassdoor… how awkward and so pathetic! Employees are making less money year over year and that is causing people to leave. All the while they keep telling you “we value you. Apollo is out for themselves and their shareholders with absolutely zero concern or respect for the employees who worked to build the company that lines their pockets. This year another layoff of talented employees and the very next day they announced you made it, but no merit or bonus. This is manipulative psychological abuse hoping people would just be happy to have their jobs. Some people weren’t even told by their manager, but on a group call. That is how detached and out of touch management is. Never again will I work for a company owned by an investment firm. I have seen and felt the destruction firsthand. Shutterfly used to be a great company to work for.

Pros

Good salary ...need five words so here's more

Cons

They just changed the policy and Innow have no time off without manager approval and it's a "Silicon Valley mentality" meaning IRS expected you eat & breathe the company and not take any of the time off. I'd planned for six months to have the kids for a week this summer and then they booked a big meeting and wouldn't let me take time off.

Pros

Discounts on products and bonuses are pretty nice

Cons

Things went downhill when our VP of design left and they did not replace him. There was a vacuum and the wrong people stepped in to lead the design team. There were many middle manager changes. No real design leadership. There was a lot of competition over projects.... because it was essentially a free-for-all without a VP to align resources. There was also too much churn and terrible resourcing decisions spawned by new leadership.
