Pros
The culture is positive and the stated values of the company are noble. Most of the line-level employees are nice to work with. Service departments are helpful. The CEO seems like a genuinely good man on a mission.
Cons
Anyone above the director level is at-best ambivalent to the needs of people below it. The compensation is abysmal. We're consistently paid the low average of our job type in our area. It seems like the only way to reap any benefit from years of service is to threaten to quit as there is very little upward movement for all but a few positions in a few departments. Even then, the promotions are confusing. If you're married, you better hope your spouse has good insurance because the options here are awful. There aren't any real fringe benefits; no gym, no showers, no day care, etc.. ( We're constantly told to cut costs and be financially responsible but it only seems to be applied when discussing compensation. Shady firings with no explanation. I'm not talking about gossip, I mean we're not told anything about why that person was fired or what they did so we can avoid the same thing. Items put into the "suggestion box" are either disregarded or condescended in group meetings.
