Pros

5 star review because I like working here but these are my honest opinions. *disclaimer: not necessarily pros or cons, just observations and opinions* 1. superstar founders. ex-mit/ex-google wing. adam must be silicon valley's most understated ceo. no frills and near robotic-level competence both company- and media-facing. abe is even less frills. will not hesitate a moment to call you out if you're wrong. most outside of sw likely don't even know who matt is. 2. competent leadership. they care, but we're moving too fast for them to fix everything all at once ;-) 2. unmatched product. no real competitor in the us. autonomy stack and team is world-class. 3ds, cloud, dock will be game-changers. fear of china-based dji = larger piece of military pie. 3. sincere efforts made regarding employee engagement. wellness classes, happy hours, company fly days, part 107 training. 4. hard push into a variety of sectors = increase in business + profit 5. not a micro-managing environment, complete opposite. employees thrown into the trenches day 1 and are told sink or swim. great for those who are proactive, who can work with little direction, who are not afraid of taking initiative. not great if you need hand-holding. 6. high standard of excellence, but comes at a cost. if you want a 9-5 this is not the place for you. not necessarily bad but there is a lack of honest conversation around wlb.

Pros

Skydio is an amazing place to work. I'll be speaking some about my own area in computer vision, but many of the pros of working here extend to the company as a whole. The work is just really fun. We're building fully-autonomous drones, and the challenges in doing that mean there are a huge number of really interesting problems to solve, including in 3D mapping and obstacle avoidance, object detection, scene understanding, motion planning, and controls. The work is never old and it's gratifying to be pushing the boundary in what a drone is capable of, and because this is a real product we get to see our work in the hands of real consumers. The team here is also relatively small for the amount of work being done and so everyone can have a real impact on the product, and by extension the drone industry as a whole. There's really no place else where I think I could find such fun, challenging work where I could also personally make such an impact in an industry. Skydio as a company also has a great culture. From the CEO down the managers are technically brilliant while not having a lot of ego. You can have your voice heard working here if you have an opinion, and the good communication and lack of ego mean decisions that are made tend to be good ones.

Cons

No real cons. Every time there is an issue, the ability to have our voices heard means issues are addressed quickly and people are able to freely express concerns.
