Pros

The people at Skype are extraordinarily talented and intelligent; working with them has been a treat.

Cons

As Skype further integrates with Microsoft, a lack of vision and leadership has really begun to take its toll. Corporate doublespeak abounds; people are no longer sure what they're doing or why they're doing it, and management has responded to this not with a strong blueprint for the future, but rather nitpicking about small issues. Talented and resourceful employees are being wasted in dead-end jobs with no hope for advancement or greater responsibility.

Great benefits, excellent free lunch and snacks, bring your dog to work

Cons

Microsoft hasn't decided what they really want to do with Skype. Consequently, there are frequent strategy changes which leads to nonstop re-orgs. As a result, people are afraid to speak up and say what they really think for fear that they will be next. More time is spent preparing Powerpoint deck for senior leadership than doing actual work. If you're great at politics, you may enjoy it. If you hate politics you will be frustrated. Work-life balance is totally dependent on your manager.
