Pros

Great pay, benefits, convenient location for me. Diverse group of people that you work with, family feeling among my current crew/shift.

Cons

Above shift supervisors or lack there of, management is absolutely inefficient. There are currently 24 Mechanics/Technicians split to four, twelve hour shifts. Which is also a rotating shift so the days/nights off are never set days. The short weeks meant that you could volunteer for start up, now its mandatory.

Pros

None but I have to type five words here.

Cons

Over-loaded with work. My clerical "job" was formerly done by 2 people. I was hired to do one job, but when the other clerk quit due to the way she was treated by management, I was given her duties as well, doing everything by myself. No one was willing to help, and with little to no training, I was left to drown.

Pros

Pay is great after receiving the $3 an hour increase recently. Good cafeteria on site. Insurance costs not bad at all for employees, with decent coverage.

Cons

Pay attention to Smithfield Foods television commercials.....they are only for advancing certain types of people.....that fact goes with this plant in Milan, Missouri sadly. Straight out Caucasians are not treated fairly compared to Latinos and Congos (any from Africa). If Caucasian is advanced, for show or others didn't necessarily want that position. Young Latino supervisors treat Caucasian females horrible out on the floor, especially new employees. Have seen several white mid aged females torn apart for no reason, they were new. This company wonders why they can't keep help here at Milan, Missouri plant.....Try treating your employees fairly and with some respect. Very hateful environment. Human Resources department is a disappointment also. No time to hear your concerns. "I got other stuff to do, talk with someone else". Exact words said to employee. There is absolutely no set times as to when end of shift is to end. You can't plan anything cause you don't know when you will be off.
