Pros

Softchoice certainly is a great place to work because of the people. The atmosphere and social apects are worth noting. The training is good up until a certain point and they are very good at providing feeback and attainable goals. The benefits and vacation time are solid as well.

Cons

There is a lack of transparency and lack of leadership at the middle management level. The advertised beer carts and bring your dog to work differntiators are pretty much gone as the company stuggles to find an identify right now. The compensation certainly is below average and the workload continually increases in terms of daily/weekly/monthly goals.

Pros

Softchoice really is a family. The camraderie is strong within the office and company-wide. There are a number of employees that are truly committed to doing a great job and delivering exceptional customer service. My experiences with direct management have been, overall, positive.

Cons

Softchoice, unfortunately, suffers from its own size. It's "family" like environment breaks down because of the focus put on task completion and speed rather than quality of work. Too many times I've been told "this isn't my job," or "supported" by a support team with inaccurate or incomplete information.

Pros

Great place to gain experience but you should only stay for a year or two.

Cons

Way too political at that place. Nepotism is rampant. Salaries are a joke. High school pecking order. I'm sure that the trips to Africa are only for a select few. You have to leave that place after a couple of years of gaining experience. Thats precisely what the company founders wanted when SCC came into being in 1989 and its what they still want now. One day you're getting awards and then one day you're escorted off of the premises because of "restructuring". Rather than giving you a cost of living increase each year (they've now frozen salaries) they want you to leave and then replace you with a new university grad for a salary lower than yours. There are people who have stayed at that place so long that if ever they get laid off, they'll have a nervous breakdown because its the only environment they've ever known. They won't rebound well.
