Pros

Not many, you have a job 4 10 hour days you can get over time but won't let you get past 55 for some people Weekly pay

Cons

Working jobs and being forced to work with out city permits big no no Panel pay is pretty much not there anymore it's really hard to get panel pay You will always be promised your company is the best and raises will come but we have let more people go in the past year then in the whole existence of this warehouse. Management gossips and plays favorites very two faced Your risking your life for about 20 dollars an hour since panel pay isn't there anymore It has come to the point where they are also asking the installers to be an embassador which is another word for sales rep. They upped the pitch in which we can install its now 48 degrees extremely hard to install. Just a box truck no vans You will be taken advantage of by the things you know how to do and get humiliated by the things you don't Crews are like gossip high school children You will work when it's raining when the roofs are extremely mossy and slick and you will also work when it's 110 outside on the roof. If you cancel a job roll it over your crew will get punished by getting really small jobs. So say good by to panel pay if you lucky enough to get it. Panel pay works only if your panel pay is more the your effective hourly rate. If you made 135 in panel pay for a day and make 110 hourly you have made only 25$ in panel pay Before it was Installer Senior Lead Now it's installer 1 2 3 Lead Crew lead Senior crew lead When this whole new system of panel pay it became clear where this company is going and try to do to there employees. Before hand my weekly checks would be 1000-1200 weekly now with the new installer panel pay it has gotten to be 400-600 weekly that's about half if not more pass on working here or any Solarcity it's become a really bad company

Pros

The best part about this company was the people I got to work with in addition to having a company car and a gas card.

Cons

There is no work-life balance whatsoever. You will have to work 7 days a week just to scrape by. There is also an unfair amount of blame and scapegoating directed towards the FEC position by all facets of the company while having to do the most work by far of anyone involved in the project management aspect of the job. Upper management expects you to hit unrealistic numbers given the region that you are in and refuses to listen to any feedback that could help the situation. Pure apathy on their part which is contrary to their motto of "One Team, One Dream." The real motto should be "One Man, One Dream" since everyone, especially in management, seem to be looking out only for themselves. If you start out in the FES position, prepare to get 80% of your closes clawed back which will ultimately leave you with getting paid the minimum salary for an extremely long time. Therefore, you are not going to be paid a living wage. The closes that you get are merely instant gratification until it is all taken away. A big reason as to why one gets so many claw backs is because SolarCity has very high standards in qualifying a home that is suitable to install solar. The most annoying aspect about the job is that there are so many different hands that go into a project that if only one person commits an error or decides to be lazy, it will diminish your credibility with the customer, and even worse, your personal numbers will take a hit while also losing your commission.

Pros

- Great first job out of college - Fast paced work environment teaches you a lot about PV Design Enginering in a short time - Relaxed culture (flexible hours and casual dress code) and great co-workers - Feels good to work for a company focused on clean energy

Cons

- Bonus structure encourages shabby work and cutthroat competition in the name of speed - Not easy to advance to higher level design positions - They don't pay you enough for how hard they work you - Unstable position, frequent downsizes and stringent performance evaluations if you start to slow down
