- The other side of moving quickly: as the company grew, it got more difficult to get buy-in for ambitious projects, or time-intensive work, even if it was the better call long-term
- Very difficult to get a raise, and there was a tendency for middle management to over-promise without delivering during review cycles. One of the reasons I left.
- Non-tech employees weren't treated too well and often faced terrible work-life balance. Employees outside SF HQ felt distinctly second-class.
- Layoffs in March 2020 were abrupt and very poorly handled, and another reason I left (later in the year). One-quarter (ish?) of the company was shown the door on a Saturday with no real severance to speak of. Or healthcare, in a pandemic! Difficult to justify (the treatment, not necessarily the layoff itself) given the huge fundraising round and hiring push that followed just a few months later.
