Micromanaged and huge management waste

Pros

Atmosphere is generally good with some exceptional engineers

Cons

Masses of management - much of it adding minimal value. Engineers micromanaged and contained to the point of removing creativity and freedom. The level of waste in this company is simlpy unreal. Never seen it taking so many people to create a single and relatively small product range

Pros

Great atmosphere, great, focus, great products. Well capitalized and nimble enough for a mid-size organization. Increasingly market focused since moving global marketing function to the US.

Cons

Significantly smaller (capitalization, sales) vs. competitors, less brand awareness so more of an uphill sales battle. Company is still heavily driven by endpoint products.

Pros

Two years ago: Great culture, innovative company, great competitor today: After merging with disc encryption solution, corporate culture has begun to fall apart, which in many ways can be related to the new leadership people and their inability to manage.

Cons

In my region, there are no benefits to receive, this has not changed within the past few years. Sophos as an employer has below average salary plans, the bonus program in sales is bad, as targets are getting raised to rediculous hights, so we can't hit them. Corporate culture is not great, many egoists (among them also management), and team spirit is about not there any more. Partial layoffs due to acquisition of disc encryption company in 2009 has not stopped entirely.
