Pros

In Denver, the scheduling is flexible, which accommodates personal lives in some ways than the traditional seven-on-seven-off schedule.

Cons

Sound purports to prioritize physicians as its first priority. However, that is not the case. Sound is a strongly driven business model that is focused on profit, not physician satisfaction. Current leadership is not trained or skilled in dealing with physicians, and we are treated like a commodity. You have little say in decision-making. I do not feel physicians are respected or treated fairly in the organization. It is very disappointing to look at their website, which places such a strong focus on physicians, and know that they do not live up to the rhetoric.

Pros

They have a reasonable projection of when you work so you can plan things in the future.

Cons

Poor compensation model. Addition of new product lines without appropriately compensating or obtaining discussion with physicians. Literally adds thousands of dollars a day in liability and work without any compensation over a 3 month time. No backing from the company. By far the WORST company I have ever worked for in medicine or any other field for communication. Non-existent.Zero risk for the company and all risk assumed by the physicians. STAY AWAY.

Wrong Company to Merge with

Pros

I was part of a former company that Sound merged with in late 2014 and I was pretty excited with Sound at first. They really talked a lot about how they were going to be there for us, but that quickly changed when we realized that all the Sound legacy people were being put above us in all decisions. Pros of the company were they tried to encourage employee engagement, once they saw our moral was down and people were leaving them to fend for themselves. The work-life balance started out OK, but quickly went down hill. They did maintain pretty decent benefits and the holiday time and events that went on at the corporate office were all pretty fun.

Cons

Management is a bit of a joke. They have no idea what is going on and are constantly dropping the ball. The good managers in the company have everything thrown on them and they become overwhelmed, resulting in their productivity and commitment to their direct reports having to be sacrificed. The way this company treated some of the extremely valuable employees from Cogent was deplorable. The CEO walks around with an entourage and is not personable at all. They boast a "home-town" feel kind of company, but the CEO only makes contacts with those worth knowing and his own reflection. He talks about a lot of stuff that never comes through and acts like he owns the world. He is definitely a major step down from other CEO's I have worked for in the past. Upper management rarely listened to anyone from my merged company, despite it being for their own good, because as far as they were concerned unless it was something the CEO thought up in his Garage, it was useless.
