Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for your work as a fare ambassador, which is a relatively new position at our agency! We are disappointed to hear that you didn't feel strongly about growth opportunities and would welcome any additional feedback you could give about that or other aspects of your work experience.

Pros

- The mission is amazing, and there's nothing like seeing tangible evidence of your work throughout the region. I've been gone for a few years, and I still feel a twinge of pride when I see the progress on FWLE. -Due to the agency's extremely unique mission, Sound Transit attracts some outstanding talent, and within that, a subset of truly good, caring people. -The organization was fairly organized and comprehensive in its HR functions, and the benefits are stellar. The employee experience was pretty good IF you had the right manager. -ST made some real gains in diversity, equity and inclusion internally and externally while I was there, despite sometimes outright antipathy from leadership. There were pointed questions about why parental leave was really necessary from male leaders. There was consistent and serious resistance to seriously considering community voices or the customer experience in a way that could at all impact the all-important Scope, Schedule, or Budget. There was scrutiny and suspicion of ERG activities that dared to go beyond food and fun cultural celebrations. And even so, the agency made more progress than I would have guessed given all of that. I hope they've been able to continue building on it.

Cons

-Bad behavior often went unchecked for too long and created a toxic environment for many. There was a previous time when that kind of behavior (pervasive passive aggression, withholding or hoarding information, bullying, public shaming, manipulation, power games, etc.) was actually revered as the only way to get the work done under severe public pressure. That reverence still lingered in the culture, and created license for people to behave accordingly without any negative consequences.

Thank you so much for your work at Sound Transit, and for taking the time to leave a detailed review of your experience. You raise a lot of really important points about agency culture and leadership accountability. Our goal is to be a welcoming workplace for all and one of our core values is inclusion and respect. It’s disappointing to hear that we didn’t fully live up to that, and we welcome input so we can improve. Feel free to reach out to our HR team at any time to provide more feedback.
