Pros

Good mixture of a laid back environment while still having lots to do. Not physically demanding, unless you count being on your feet for extended periods of time. Good opportunity to move up within the company. Almost impossible to get let go unless you're caught stealing. Worked here for over a year and haven't wanted to quit once.

Cons

You don't get breaks (including lunch) or discounts of any kind. You're also expected not to have food, drinks or your phone visible at the POS area, so getting a bite to eat can be tricky. All while this is happening, the camera feed can be accessed by the security center at any time and they will occasionally call you to see if you're committing any violations. Scheduling can be a nightmare, but this really depends on your manager. Hours can vary wildly. I've had anything from 16 scheduled hours to 40 in a week. Seems like beer orders and truck orders are never taken into consideration when making the schedule. Here, we don't get our schedule for the week until the day before it starts. You're more or less expected to work when you're sick. Since most places have 15 or so employees with 2-3 people working per shift and 3 shifts per 24 hours, trying to find someone to cover can be difficult. If no one can, you have to suck it up. Customers can drive you up the wall sometimes. You will be blamed for everything under the sun, including the price of gas, so be patient. There will be at least one customer per day that doesn't understand the concept of pre paying for gas, and just expects you to start their pump for them (usually when they have a coupon). This IS retail, after all... I'm not management myself, but they do have heavy work loads. At least 40 hours though. I mentioned "almost impossible to be fired" in the pros, but this can obviously be a con at times. If there's a really bad employee, they probably won't be fired unless they're stealing, or maybe if they sell alcohol to minors. I could go on and on about what I've seen people do or not do while still holding a job.

Pros

It's a good job when your new and don't really know the other employees and what they are about. But when you see them for who they are you don't want to be there anymore.

Cons

Management had there favorites and they could get away with anything. But everyone else was treated as if they were a new employee. Even the ones who were there for years. You were gossiped about all the time even the manager. I was told that I was fired, then that I was pretty much fired. And all I had to do was call my boss to confirm..she lied and told me that wasn't true. And that I was still on the schedule.
