Pros

Great fellow entry level coworkers to work with. I met some amazing people working at SpinFusion.

Cons

Both the day to day work and company atmosphere are intolerable. As far as what your role will be as a software developer, know that most of what you do will be either putting out fires of mission critical bugs that made it live due to the total lack of any sort of QA process, or rushing to complete projects or features that were promised to clients by the CEO on timelines of mere days. Staying as late as nine o'clock, or more, to finish features that had been promised would be ready the next day is not uncommon. Even in that environment, coming straight out of college, your code will not be reviewed or tested in any serious capacity, and any bugs or issues that make it through will be entirely your fault. Prompting, in some cases, the CEO to "reprimand" you personally, often by shouting you down for thirty minutes at at time. As far as the company atmosphere, the turnover rate is nothing short of obscene. By the time I left roughly six months after I stared, there was not a single employee other than management who was still there from my first day. The CEO will shout at you, insult you, and treat you however he feels like, whenever he wants, and not care when you leave. I saw multiple people who had been with the company for months or years get fired at the drop of a hat with no warning or real reason given. Most others who were "lucky" enough to not get fired fervently job hunted until they were able to find something else, anything else, and run. It's unreal that the CEO either doesn't understand how much money he's losing when experienced people knowledgeable of his product walk out, or that he's incapable of putting his ego aside long enough to realize how much more successful his company could be if he hired a real manager to interact with his employees for him. In his mind, employees are totally expendable and replaceable. If you are a potential candidate reading this review, it's reasonable to think that as an ex-employee I'm just overly jaded and it's not really that bad. I urge you to read the other reviews, and note that there are exactly four positive reviews. In your first interview, I recommend asking how many members of upper management there are.

Pros

The people that they hire on are some of the smartest and hardworking people I've ever had the pleasure of working with.

Cons

The project work planning is basically non-existent. I can't count how many times either myself or a coworker had to complete a deadline within 2 days or less from being given the work to having a functional bug-free final product. Be prepared to come in early and stay late to meet deadlines again and again. The work itself is rough to put it kindly. You'll either be digging through poorly written decade old code or figuring out how to do "modern" (years old at this point) web programming on your own since management doesn't know what's involved in a modern day web app. Abandon all hope of industry standard practices such as unit tests or web app and data security as there isn't a place, time, or knowledge base for those in the workflow. The turnover in this company is unreal. Every single employee that was not a manager that was employed when I started either quit or was fired. Note I said employees and not just people on my team. On top of that I've never heard anything good said about a former employee from management. The blame always falls on the employee and never management. Something that should be really telling about the company is that pretty much every developer that is hired on is in their first job within the industry. You'll never see a hire for more experienced developers because it doesn't pay enough for the amount of work and hours that are needed to "succeed" within the company. Culture-wise, the company tries to have one of those cool start up cultures. They've got a pool table, snacks, and arcade machine but you'll barely have any time to actually enjoy these since most of your time will be spent either working or preparing yourself mentally to make it through the rest of the day in one piece.

Pros

SpinFusion is a great place to work. I have been a part of negative companies that don't care about their employees, and this is not one of them. I have worked under undermining, terrible management... SpinFusion management is not that. Yes, it's a growing company, and with that come growing pains, but we are overcoming those obstacles together as a team and I'm proud and happy to be a part of it. It saddens me to see such angry reviews recently. Part of those growing pains are coming to the realization that the company (or some job roles) may not be a good fit for some individuals, and vice versa.

Cons

See text under 'Pros', it covers both.
