Going through hard times

Pros

- Excellent Benefits (1/2 day Friday, Parental leave, floating days, Volunteer day) - Remote work (mostly) - Great colleagues and wide assortment of clients - Great overall transparency in terms of revenue/profit that the company as a whole is making or losing.

Cons

- Low pay, lack of growth (in some departments) - Workfront (really! this product is a disaster) - No departmental transparency - we all know that the company is going through tough times and we are aware of the overall revenue, overall margins etc - but we don't know which department(s) are money makers and which ones are losing money. I would appreciate if this information can be shared so that each employee is aware of whether they have to step up, or continue at current pace. - Leadership is perhaps an echo chamber - only if CEO would have frank conversations with employees skipping all managers - would he understand the pulse of the org. With about 100 employees, I think he should meet each employee directly (skipping managers) for about 10 mins each. - Our billing rate (what we charge clients) went up between 30%-40%, but the Company is still losing money. Somewhere inefficiencies have crept up in the Organization. Perhaps there's a lot of client attrition because of the huge jump in billing. Or perhaps a lot is being spent on Workfront/Udemy and other seldom used benefits. Or perhaps the leadership team is bloated and needs to be trimmed down. - Hyper focussed on completing the 40hr timesheet. As an employee, if I ever put in 39 hrs, it is viewed as a big negative and the message gets passed that the timesheet is incomplete. On the other side, if I put in 41hrs, 42, 43, 45, or even 50 hrs - there's no acknowledgement for the extra effort. Another side effect being earlier, employees could "talk"/"discuss" with each other without necessarily billing the client - but those talks/discussions had a net positive impact on our productivity, as well as having good rapport with colleagues. It has now become a case where employees ping each other and immediately ask for which Workfront task to bill the time to. - Transparency: CEO's calendar is private/hidden - a symptom of leadership preaching about transparency and breaking silos - but not living upto it. - I might be laid off in near future - but I still do want Spinutech to succeed, and do what it was best at.

Pros

Good pay, you will work with some professionals and good people, remote option (some locations), and good benefits.

Cons

Over the past year, we have lost some of the most talented individuals in the agency world. Management assured us that 'everything is fine' and that 'we will get through this,' yet layoffs continued, and many were reportedly let go for questionable or illegitimate reasons. Upper management has become increasingly disengaged, avoiding meaningful connections with employees, likely due to the anticipation of more layoffs. Internally, we’ve struggled to retain high-paying clients because of disorganization and inefficiency. Instead of resolving issues, upper management seems to exacerbate them by overanalyzing and creating unnecessary complications, while failing to provide tangible solutions. This cycle has left our teams demoralized and unproductive. Many of the 5-star reviews are written by internal employees who were tasked with leaving positive feedback, according to what a department director shared with me. This company was once an incredible place to work, but after witnessing everything that has unfolded over the past four years, I would strongly advise anyone I know against working here.

Ego Got the Best of a Great Company

Pros

When I joined the company there was a focus on innovation, team work, transparency and having fun while doing great work. Good ideas did come from everywhere and teams worked together toward a common goal, including leadership. The passion for creation great solutions inspired clients to partner with us and we won together.

Cons

As the company grew, and post-merger, the weak leadership allowed the team to run the company. As clients left and deals were lost, the ego of the owners pulled the leadership team further apart, lacking the ability to make hard decisions left inept leaders in their roles for much longer than they should have been (many are still there) and the company continued to do the same thing hoping for different results. Truly a shame with the company was made up of some of the most brilliant digital strategists I had worked with in my career. Gross mismanagement crumbled this company.
