Pros

Good benefits, reasonable work/life balance (on-call expectations excluded - see below), family friendly, and a fun group (especially if you love sports). Some decent opportunities to work on more greenfield and even cutting edge technology (if you are placed right - see below on the legacy issue).

Cons

As with almost all software companies 5 years or older - maintenance of legacy stacks, especially after M&A into the bigger firm. Typical problems of a large corporation after going public: re-orgs, middle manager switch-ups all over the place, build this, tear that down, leadership ghosting... it feels like an attempt at generating something amazing from controlled chaos, but in my experience, the outputs from this process are not gratifying to the engineers on the ground who feel push & pulled to deliver the actual results. Biggest con: on-call requirements on a pretty high rotation. I was 24/7 every five weeks, sometimes supporting software I never worked on and had little knowledge of how to fix if something major broke, and they want it fixed NOW. Second biggest con: compensation calculation for remote workers based on Minneapolis cost of living, which is significantly lower than some of the regions they hire remote workers out of (including mine on the West coast). It seems most other major firms adjust their pay rate based on the states they are hiring in, and they need to figure that out or just stop hiring from those locations.

Great people, terrible management structure

Pros

If you stick it out at Sportradar, you could eventually have the opportunity to travel internationally and meet with some great people from all over the world. This was by far the biggest "perk" you could obtain in my personal opinion. Surrounded by a lot of sports enthusiasts so you will most likely get along with at least some people on your team which can lead to some good work. Quite a few opportunities both in the US and internationally for upward mobility if you are even remotely competent as an employee. You can learn a lot about the industry working here if you try.

Cons

Terrible and I can not understate this enough, terrible, pay for the workload you are expected to take on as full-time employees almost across the board in production/support/development. The first job offer I got after leaving SR in a similar field was double my previous salary for a fraction of the stress and half the work. Depending on your team, the management structure can be nonsensical and frustrating. Working in the US you should expect to report to multiple "bosses" who have high rank in the company both in the US and overseas. There is a ton of conflict between upper management that trickles down and affects day to day employees. I saw multiple department heads get fired or quit the company in my 5 years. The way business is conducted in the US often times does not align with the management style from overseas. You will be treated as very replaceable and turnover in a lot of departments (even full-time ones) is high. As someone stated earlier in previous review, it is absolutely true that competency is rewarded with more work for little to no benefit to the employee. This was one of the main reasons I and others departed the company. The biggest con in my opinion is the disparity in pay across the offices. I understand that economies vary greatly, but someone working in Montevideo with the same job title and responsibilities as someone in the US or EU should not be getting paid virtually half the salary in USD. I mean this literally. Ontop of that, management will literally use the fact that employees in other offices being paid less than you (even if you do far more work and are generally more competent) to avoid raising your pay. They really don't understand how to create a pay structure that is fair. Fresh hires were often paid more than tenured employees even if the cost of living was comparable in both markets.
