Pros

Never bored. Good mix of field work, computer work, and driving. Job is much easier and efficient if you keep good customer relationships and build trust with construction foremen and supervisors who call in the locates, then job is much more manageable.

Cons

Never seem to have enough help. (Good for those who want to make almost unlimited overtime). Corporate structure is immune to the needs of employees and managers. Never had new equipment, struggled to get replacement items needed for doing job correctly so sometimes I would have to buy tools myself and charge them extra hours to pay for them. Doesn't matter how much you work your butt off or save their butts sacrificing weekends and doing more on call weeks than you originally signed up for, they will throw you under the bus first chance they get in order to save money or pass the buck. Good job to get experience with locating utilities but horrible corporate structure and management for long term employment.

Pros

There really aren't any pros beyond a paycheck.

Cons

a typical day at work: Wake up with the nightmares of what fresh he** awaits you for the day and question all of your life decisions that got you here. what you learned: Find something else to do. management: Most of the Area Managers are good, but above that is terrible. workplace culture: Toxic the hardest part of the job: Showing up everyday to tolerate the abuse. the most enjoyable part of the job: When it ended. This place is a joke and has no intention of doing the right thing. They have lost two major contracts in the last couple of months and don't even recognize that it is due to their complete incompetence. They don't value any of their employees and believe that they can just pull someone off of the street to be a "yes man" to help them survive for another day.
