Pros

Working on the fore-front of the latest medical break throughs at a leading hospital system. I met a lot of smart and bright people who truly cared about making a difference and improving healthcare. Had the opportunity to work on a large scale and complex EMR implementation with a large team.

Cons

Many of the leaders are out of touch with front-line staff and just trying to protect their own position it seems. Unfortunately I saw some very toxic behaviors and competitive practices that lead to an unpleasant work-life balance. Also my own director made fellow staff member cry and put them down constantly, very very unprofessional coming from someone who was with the company for 19 years and kept getting promoted even after HR documented incidents. My department had 5 medical directors in the last 4 years that should say a lot about the senior management or lack thereof.

Pros

The name. Beautiful facility. Front line staff. Weather. Potential to be better! Remote work. Comp commute on cal train. Growing across the Bay Area.

Cons

Sometimes I feel like Stanford is actually trying to convince me to quit. All I can do I echo the previous posters comments: bad management. Not sure what it is, but there are just a ton of people who are filling management positions that should be there. I have worked in other companies before (which were much larger than Stanford Health Care) and never experience such a poor management style or org chart. New C-suite in town, but so far nothing to show for it. Politics are crazy and at every level of the org.
