Pros

Ongoing training, new leadership academies launched for promotional growth, large spacious offices, ability to work many over time hours but I believe that's no longer offered from people I still talk to there. matching 401K and decent health insurance. management always has a listening ear and easy to get along with, same with co-workers. Opportunities to cash in on relatively easy bonuses and OT hours.

Cons

Hours (Don't know where all the flexible scheduling reviews came from). I started at 7 am at times and left at 11 pm at times although some of this was optional overtime I took on, but you do have to work days, nights and weekends. Job can get very monotonous and very boring. Dealing with close to 150 inbound and outbound calls a day. Dealing with demographics and very aged accounts that are very difficult if not impossible to collect from and then being held accountable for stratospheric net fee goals that can lead to job termination and did for many reps. Automatic call dialer that has always been and will always be slower than a turtle in mud. Success is based more on luck and which client your handed and not individual skill.

Pros

I have NOTHING nice to say about State Collection Service.

Cons

I never had a chance because I have a heart. These people don't have souls .. bothering people who are homeless and /or on their (or their loved one's) death bed for a small payment. The HR lady told me what I wanted to hear and was extremely unprofessional....and that should have been my first clue. The classroom instructor was probably the only decent person there. The on-the-job training was a joke. They bounce you to person to person (and the Supervisors had to literally beg or bribe people to train, which was a bit uncomfortable and unprofessional). One person does something one way and then when you do it the way you were just taught, you get told that it is the wrong way...and this continuously occurs over and over. I was never told the number of phone calls I was to make per hour/per day until 2 days before they let me go because I wasn't making enough phone calls. I was initially made to feel horrible that I wasn't making enough phone calls (I was getting closer and closer to the quota, and I know I would've had no problem getting there had I had just a little more time). I was also told to take my time and learn the job well before worrying about my call quota. I was abruptly removed from my desk mid call and taken into a room where the HR lady and my unprofessional Supervisor let me go less than 2 days after learning what was expected of me. My co-workers were not any better... I was training one morning when my trainer continuously muted her phone and said terrible things at the muted phone. It was a horrible experience.

So, so

Pros

My manager is great at exposing me to new projects and duties that increase my skill set.

Cons

Non-collection employees are rarely recognized or praised for their work. Communication is a dead lock. Sometimes seems like you need an army to get any issues resolved. There are a lot of people who seem to have no idea what they are doing. Not sure why managers do not require them to have additional training or change their job duties after multiple complaints have been voiced. Gets to the point where it's like, does my voice really matter?
