Pros

The individuals at Strongmind were truly awesome. They built some of the best organically grown culture I've ever worked in. The product development teams had more autonomy than anywhere else I've ever worked. The technology was exciting and modern. Diverse skillsets provided ample opportunity for mentorship at different levels and in different domains. The products being built truly made a difference for the education of kids and gives them a fighting chance in their future endevours. That mission made it easy to get up and go to work every day. Great events, team building, fun, etc. We had softball teams, a bowling league, board game lunches, etc.

Cons

Cost of benefits seemed very high for sub par coverage. I believe I was paying $700/mo for the mid tier plan for my family and every time I went to a doctor I paid more than my co-pay.

Pros

Coworkers are great. A lot of really fun and talented people. Pay seems fair for engineering. The gym is decent. There is a fun Halloween party every year. The new curriculum manager as of spring 2018 is an improvement.

Cons

Pay is very bad for curriculum dept. Leadership changes their minds constantly. Very little transparency. Very little autonomy. Employees are not trusted to do what they were hired to do. Internal software for building courses is always broken and causes curriculum teams to spend a lot of time re-doing things. More and more responsibilities are piled on but there are no raises. Glass offices upstairs looking down on everyone else are uncomfortable. There is a lot of favoritism. No real opportunities for growth (but new curriculum manager seems to be trying to change that).

Absolutely Horrible Leadership - Great Pay

Pros

Pretty cool office space and gym, great pay for higher positions. Good curriculum department.

Cons

A perfect case study of a poorly managed company. $54M annual revenue from Primavera Online High School, Strongmind is just the technology arm and barely clears a few million in sales after YEARS of trying to make something happen. Huge staff that doesnt' get much done and they don't support the only team that really makes them any money. Management hasn't changed since they changed their name from FlipSwitch (go read the reviews), I should have taken warning from those wise words. The CEO still functions like a startup CEO by telling teams what to do and what to build on a whim, bypassing all normal strategy and planning. He even built a 1970s style office that overlooks everyone on the "floor" with big glass walls, pretty incredible. Sales has no idea what they are doing and there is no real product. The main product was created for Primavera and was trying to be sold to other companies but requires a ton of custom code which is NOT scalable. The leadership has no idea how to build good products with any type of methodology and it takes its toll on the staff. Basically, it's "do what the CEO thinks" without data or research or anything to back it up and spend way to much time and money on things that will never see the light of day. People say they want change, but they don't really and people are scared to speak up. Must be why good people are leaving left and right. You have been warned.
