Pros

Extremely competitive environment promotes quality sales people and leadership. Brand name recognition will help you get your foot in the door to new customers. Disposable income and cash reserves allow stability in acquisition market. Training program is top notch and you will never regret coming to work for Stryker because you will be able to get a gig nearly anywhere if you end up leaving

Cons

Small sales geographies with a "divide and conquer mentality". Stryker has a strong personality and can be detrimental depending on your market. Expectations are high and you are always on the clock for next month, quarter and year. National contracts negotiators are trying to hold price on new products which slows down ability to sell new tech. Very slow to market with same tech. Can seem like they believe each sales person is replaceable with a younger version that will come cheaper (not unique to SYK)

Pros

Diversified business. Focus on career development and succession planning more so than two other comparable med device companies. Flexible work environment. Strong acquisition record. 7% total comp 401(k) match for the last 20+ years on top of the normal 3-4% match. CEO and next level leadership team are strong. Highly decentralized, put a lot of

Cons

Promote people into new roles every 1-2 years which isn't bad, but often times into disciplines where person has no experience. Very much a promote within with lesser experienced people than bringing talent in from the outside that has been there done that. Horrible IT systems. 20 years behind the times. Highly decentralized and not very coordinated business units especially in a consolidating healthcare market.
