Pros

I have worked at Study.com for 2 years and I truly feel lucky to have found such a great place to work. Perks aside (fully stocked kitchen, open work stations, company trips to the beach, etc), the best part about working at Study.com is the fact that the company believes in its' employees. Over the last few years, I have been able to gain an incredible amount of knowledge and experience due to the fact that the company recognizes and rewards hard work and passion. I am constantly challenged to think of new areas I want to grow in professionally and then given the opportunity to do so. The people who work here are incredibly friendly and intelligent. The product we have is unique and has the ability to revolutionize the way education is accessed. I am eager to see the growth the company will have in the next few years and I look forward to being a part of it.

Cons

No stock options. Profit sharing only occurs if the company gets bought out. Employees who leave before this occurs do not get any compensation.

A Great Place for Career Development

Pros

This is the first company I've been at where management is as committed to my professional growth as I am. Several times a year everyone sits down with their manager to discuss what new skills they want to learn or existing skills they'd like to further develop. I know that happens at some other places too, but what sets Study.com apart is its willingness to move people and projects around to really align what people want to work on with the work that needs to get done. I know a few people that work for large companies like Google, Amazon and Facebook, and they all seem to really like it, but when we talk about work it seems like they're stuck in very specific, focused roles. I think back on the breadth of what I've learned since I started working at Study.com and there's no way I would have picked up half as much somewhere else.

Cons

The office is almost 20 miles away from me and Bay Area traffic is horrible.

Thanks for the positive feedback on our career development conversations. We really try to create a culture where employees can have open conversations about their career goals and also see new opportunities as they stay with the company. As an ed tech company, we want to live up to our mission by making sure our employees always have opportunities to learn new skills, which is why we don't silo employees into specialized positions. - Ashley

Pros

Everyone at Study.com is super smart, friendly, and fun to work with. This job is the most fun I've had in my 20+ year career. The steady growth of the company is a definite comfort; it's nice to see all the metrics on the wallboards keep going up. They really value having teams that like each other, and they put a lot of effort into trying to foster that kind of environment - team events, happy hours, catered lunches, and so on. They also value constantly trying to improve, whether it's personal skills, process improvements, or innovating on a specific project.

Cons

My commute on 17 and 85 is brutal. YMMV. Every established company has tech debt to deal with from legacy code, but study.com's is no worse than anyone else's and better than most.

Thank you for the positive feedback on our team culture. We've worked hard to maintain a culture as we grow that support each other and work collaboratively. When we're hiring we look for awesome team members who want to contribute to our culture in a positive way. We're also excited that the company is doing so well, as you see on the wall boards every day. It's definitely fun to be part of a fast growing, successful company. -Ashley
