Abysmal Pay

Pros

flexible schedule and workload, choice of projects

Cons

The pay is per piece and on my current project it works out to about $5/hour. Although in theory, you can work as much or as little as you want to, the current project I'm assigned to rarely has any work to sign up for. They are still advertising that they are hiring for this project even though those already employed by it have no work to select.

Managers Often Abuse Their Power

Pros

The initial pay was good. A few weeks later, I realized why they had to pay so generously: to hire decent people, as they had few left.

Cons

Transparency is essential in any workplace. It wasn't the case here. The upper management gave the managers too much power, which changed their attitude. They became too arrogant to think before they acted. They fired people on the spot without an explanation, creating an atmosphere of fear about job loss. It was the worst time of my entire career. I am grateful that I fled before they could fire me.

Pros

The learning curve for SEO wasn't too bad, and I gained some valuable skills.

Cons

They pilled an impossible amount of content onto my plate every single day. My supervisor expected me to magically conjure up high-ranking keywords for every random subject under the sun, with barely any time for research or proper optimization. It felt like working in a content mill, churning out SEO sludge with no regard for quality. This constant pressure to pump out content left me burnt out and disillusioned with SEO altogether.
