Nice coworkers, bad management

Pros

Some really nice people, decent work life balance.

Cons

Lack of organization by management and exec, some managers have a very hands off approach and don't seem to want to be managers. My team and I were blindsided when a member of our team was fired for "performance reasons" when they had been doing great and had been given zero performance based feedback or improvement plan by their manager. Slow moving, risk averse culture - antithesis to most Silicon Valley start ups. Top down approach to decision making, lower ranked staff members are only valued for their following of directions rather than their ideas. Relatively low pay compared to other companies in different industries - they use the mission oriented culture to underpay their employees.

Pros

Sad to say but the only good thing here is my team.

Cons

If you're unfortunate enough to get a job here, remember to not believe whatever the manipulative management tells you. Beware of the leadership's lies because the managers LIE ALL THE TIME. It's impossible to trust their words because employee well-being and better workplace aren't really om their priority lists.

Pros

Excellent benefits, amazing mission, and some of the best people in the bay area. Company makes a concerted effort to provide professional growth opportunities.

Cons

These growth opportunities are often framed as lateral growth, given the company's relatively flat organizational structure.
