Pros

Geographic range, commitment to diversity, multiple lines of business and great potential.

Cons

The organization is struggling with reinventing itself. Many expense reduction initiatives have resulted in lower levels of service both inside and outside the company placing a lot of stress on employees and sometimes customers. A focus on standardizing everything leads to "one size fits all" solutions that sometimes end up fitting nothing, and ongoing centralization of decisionmaking and control sometimes leaves the people in front of the customers with little real decision making authority. It seems like management is so committed to the new model that employee feedback is often ignored or discounted. As a result of all this, stress levels across the organization are very high.

Pros

Employees are well compensated for their ability to increase the client base and revenue. The company has generous policies to pay for additional eduction and certifications. The company believes in work-life balance and supports you to take time off when needed.

Cons

CIB is a very competitive environment and you either sink or swim. There is not much room to coast in the middle. The company is also very risk averse and are not always willing to make the decisions is takes to be competitive in the capital markets space.

Pros

It's a job and it puts food on the table. The vacation & sick leave benefits are good.

Cons

Working at SunTrust doesn't put much food on the table. The retirement plans are always changing and not for the good of the employee. The health insurance is very expensive. Staff is constantly being reduced. There is always more work and less pay and no opportunities to advance in career or financial goals. Training is poor. Constantly spending money on new technology and programs when the old stuff worked just fine. The only advancement that I will find is to leave because here you are truly just a number. If VP isn't in your title, well pack a lunch, it's going to be a long day and lord knows management isn't buying. As an "old timer" it is sad that I have very little positive things to say.
