Pros

The clients were the only reason I stayed.

Cons

Employee retention doesn't exist here for a reason. The turn over rate is probably 6 mo. Clients are angry they have a new clinician every few weeks and struggle building a rapport with the new clinicians because they always leave. And yes, you will too. Management truly does not care about you or your clients. They do the minimim to make sure the required boxes are checked by DOH's bare minimum requirements in 'client care' so when audit time comes, they are covered. It is a FOR PROFIT behavioral health business. Do yourself a favor, and work for a non profit. Because at least then, your hard work is going to the right place. Worst health insurance policy Micromanagement Unsafe working demands with intoxicated clients, but expected to work with them anyway, despite what management says They are perpetually understaffed because to be frank, employees know they are disposable in this company, so caseloads are always maxed out or even exceeding the maximum numbers allowed. Overtime is not offered here unless you're stuck working due to an unexpected crisis, then it's approved. And you have to stay, whether you like it or not. Other than that, don't be fooled, OT doesn't exist within this agency. And if you do end up working extra and it wasn't approved, you don't get OT you get to cut your next day short and hope you're not cutting appt. time with clients. If you work in the Intensive program you're forced to take the crisis phome home. There is no option.

Pros

Excellent work experience for better patience, and humility. When moving to a different company, it looks great that you worked with DD participants. Can work many hours, or only a few hours if you would like. Some coworkers are generous and kind, and very thoughtful about their job.

Cons

Lazy workers, poor management, little training, little staff support from supervisors, poor documentation style, technology is very behind, etc. There are no electronic files for anything (including paystubs, hours worked), and it is lost very easily. Management turns a blind eye to things that are not an immediate problem, including harassment, racism, and mismanagement of money or food. Supervisors are either corrupt or overworked. Never helpful. They do not fire people for misconduct. They simply move them to a different house to work, so don't bother trying for justice.

Pros

You get to work with incredible children that will teach you a lot about life and parenting.

Cons

This company doesn’t have the client’s best interest in mind nor does it have the best interest of its employees in mind. At the children’s home, the staff wasn’t always honest with the parents on the decisions being made on the behalf of their child/teen. There was a high turnover rate for both the direct care staff and the program managers. The company didn’t seem to want to partner with those who sought to continue their growth/education and several good program managers left due to this issue. I also noticed that this company doesn’t seem to promote honesty or integrity. The program manager as of early 2016 seemed to involve herself in the staff drama and get herself entangled in the rumors rather than focusing on the clients. The direct support were willing to do whatever it took to dodge fault of any incident that occurred when certain clients were in their care and instead shifted blame to staff that were not with that particular client. (As of 2016). I have never seen such a good opportunity to serve turn into a toxic high school-like gossip job. The HR department will not support you either and would rather send you to the wolves which goes back to being willing to shift blame to avoid consequence.
