As a technician, you are the "handyman" and can be called to do things outside of the norm. As an electrician, I took offense to being used for only roof leak investigations (for weeks at a time) without training. Travel and OT were killed, making the job no longer worth my while. Also, the customers hate you. Many customers have a contract that they wish to argue about, and you are left to be the one to take the abuse since you will be the first face they see since their installation. Personal opinion: solar is dead. Just look at RUN and SEDG stocks. This industry is now cutting back so I think it is a terrible time to start in it.
