Pros

Typical Chinese (Taiwanese) company Med/dental/vision/401k Free breakfast daily, free fruit mid-week Free lunch buffet Saturday (only if you OT on Saturday of course) Free dinner box (but only if you stay till 8 PM.) If you are a Chinese who needs an H1B visa, please try Super Micro. Job secures which they barely fire people. (That is why hardly can motivate people and there is not reward system) There are a lot of opportunities for professional growth in SuperMicro which because people in SuperMicro just way too outstanding that they are not quite sure what they are doing actually. (Either work long enough to earn the all benefit already and just waiting for retirement or no professional skill at all and just try to fool around) If you want to work in a quiet environment, please join SuperMicro that there is no information sharing at all. There are no communications between departments but rather pointing fingers. (Management people not even want to sharing information to the team which he is afraid to lost their superiority) If you love to show off and exciting meeting as always, SuperMicro is a good stage for you. There is not respect but only yelling, point finger. After meeting that you may lose your direction and feel frustrates but without any solution.

Cons

You can not find any leadership that most of leaders are without management skill and without directions. They work as management is because they work for SuperMicro long enough even thou their minds are not clear. There are not many promotions. Even thou there is but will not be base on your performance but how much your leader likes you or how hard you kissing ass. (Management positions are holding by most of people that waiting for retirement; you will not have chance before their retirement. Let’s say 5-10 years.) Long hours, not required but it is expected. (not sure if there are so busy like this but they just want you to show up)

Pros

Med/dental/vision/401k and life insurance (just in case a truck or forklift hits you, no kidding) Free breakfast each weekday, free dinner if you stay until 7pm, free fruit mid-week, free lunch buffet on Saturdays - also all-hands Christmas party at end of the year Most people here are pleasant and good to work with Fast-paced work environment with many opportunities to learn technology or build up network Automated tools online such as dinner ordering, IT and purchase desk, benefits and pay management and so on Sprawling campus gives lots of chances to get exercise (and you will... because you need to walk building to building quite often) Plenty of job security, for both good and bad reasons

Cons

Many functions which appear to be automated are actually not... definitely not a paper-less office Long hours... not really required to work on some Saturdays or past 7 pm, but its kind of expected Some people are tough to work with (may be personality disorder) If you speak Chinese good for you - if not, good luck! Resources constrained, some people are assigned to do jobs they are not really skilled to do or doing too many jobs at once Company thinks it knows what it wants to become, but has no idea how to get there
