Pros

Support.com has some sharp employees and your coworkers can be fantastic people to chat with between calls. •Decent pay, particularly for rural areas •Work-from-home position cuts out the need for a daily commute and allows you to personalize your space •Occasionally challenging work can make for a highly enjoyable shift •Can be acceptable for a temporary job, so long as you don't try to make a career out of it

Cons

Support.com used to be a fantastic place to work for; however, it is now a shell of its former self. The last several months since holiday season 2012 have introduced many changes that made this position a rather unbearable, demeaning experience. •Shift differentials have been cut, reducing many employees' pay by close to 10% •The bonus system that management introduced doesn't even give their top 4% of performers the same kind of bonus they would see on a shift differential - it's more of a slap in the face than anything else •Management has grown far too attached to tracking metrics, which simply does not work in a technical position of this nature. Management cares largely about how fast you get off the phones, and nothing else. Successful upsells, high customer satisfaction, and a fantastic track record for service completion are not rewarded. •The quality assurance team was outsourced shortly after my departure •Support.com is hiring employees at a lower pay rate to take care of some of the grunt work, and they're completely shafting their more knowledgeable employees in the process, likely in an attempt to purposely increase churn rate •Comcast's systems are a complete mess. Prepare to see many customers billed monthly to be told that Comcast has an issue with their equipment and that they can have it replaced. There are rarely refunds for these issues. •The sales team makes frequent mistakes and technicians are always the ones cleaning up. Sales agents sell improper services, frequently do not properly verify customers, and lie to customers (or simply do not know what it is that they are selling) •There is a major lack of consistency. One supervisor will do something one way, while another will do it another way. It's easy to get written and verbal warnings for silly reasons. •While Support.com states it hires within, there really isn't very much room to move up. Supervisors are being assigned larger and larger teams while technical leads (the next "tier" up) have to abide to policy changes that require them to work with significantly more experts at any given time. Meanwhile, both positions seem to be on a hiring freeze... There are many other frustrations I ran into while working for this company, especially within the last several months that I worked with them. The most knowledgeable and hardest-working employees have almost all left for greener pastures. Many employees have been let go, others have been written up, and several were so frustrated that even some of the best employees left immediately without even submitting a two-week notice. The stress at this position is unbearable. If you are going to work here, don't try to make a career out of it. It can be semi-decent for a temporary summer job or a position to pick up some extra cash, but beyond that it is a rotten opportunity. Proceed with caution.

Pros

* Remote work. * Paid time off is accrued.

Cons

* No chance for growth. * Abusive clients with no recourse. * Changed attendance policy in the middle of a pandemic (Covid-19), stating medical emergencies did not excuse absences. * Illusion of choice when it comes to scheduling. Every few months, you'll go through a "shift bid" where you are supposed to rate your preference on what schedule you want. I always got my 70th or higher choice. * Support.com Workbench, a tool the company requires to be open during your shift is essentially spyware. * New employees getting paid at a higher rate than tenured employees. * Takes advantage of veterans to paint the company in a better light to the media. * Poor leadership. If a tool goes offline or breaks, management does not lead the team despite team members having to walk on eggshells to meet metrics.

As with all feedback, we do take the time to address all comments and ensure that we make changes when and were we can. We also appreciate honest feedback. We have tremendous opportunities for growth, as we have a variety of job functions, we promote 98% from within and we provide the necessary training for all promotions. While our attendance policy did change on May 1, we also reset all employees attendance infractions to Zero and we removed all existing disciplinary actions. We also set in place a policy that allows and employee to miss 4 days with no disciplinary actions. Our employees have 5 days of PTO, 7 days of Floating holiday and now 4 days to use as this wish, for a total of 16 days in the first year of employment. We feel this is very generous. We have never stated that medical emergencies are not excused, we have a process in place to handle special situations, such as leave, FMLA, ADA, etc. Like all call centers, our business needs change and we do have shift bids. All employees are stack ranked within their department and have an opportunity to bid on the shift that best suits their needs. We do not have Spyware of any kind in our systems. We have a variety of pay scales based on your individual skill set, background and role. We honor our veterans as we honor all employees, and we take special offense to this comment. Again, we appreciate feedback, we make changes based on feedback, but the feedback must be honest. These statements made are inaccurate and in some instances false and damaging to our business and our employees.

Pros

They offer flexible scheduling; if you're a student, then they will make a schedule around your classes. Offers excellent health and dental benefits to full-time employees, also offers PTO and flexible holiday hours for those who meet the required number of hours worked.

Cons

This company often issues mandatory time off, meaning that they will cut several hours off of your work schedule because "call volume is low." This means that if you're a fulltime employee promised 40hrs a week; you will only get about 35. Cutting these hours has nothing to do with metrics or performance; this is across the board. Other times the company will issue mandatory overtime, and you have no say in when these hours are scheduled to you. You could be scheduled to work two hours on one of your days off, or you might have an hour or two added before or after your regular shift. If these hours are missed, it is counted as a work schedule violation and will result in a warning. Repeat violations result in the separation of employment. If you miss work, either by calling out or are just a few hours late, your PTO time will be used to cover those hours, and this happens with or without your consent. Yes, you will lose PTO if you miss your shift for ANY reason. PTO is accrued based on the number of hours an employee works. If the company is issuing mandatory time off, then you will not meet the 40hr weekly requirement to accrue PTO. Training tends to be extremely poor. By the time the eight week training period is over, the tools you've learned very well may be obsolete. Call handling and escalation procedures can completely change in a few weeks after you begin taking calls. Lastly, the company will market this role as a Tier 2 Tech Support role, but in actuality, you are customer service. In this role, you will be expected to perform the role of salesperson, billing agent, retention agent, and whatever else they can try to tack on to your role. Your responsibilities may change or increase with no change in pay. There are no raises or promotions offered in this role.

Thank you for your feedback. As stated we do have both mandatory time off and mandatory extra hours based on business needs, attendance and overall performance of our employees. Regarding PTO, employees can earn 12 days of PTO and FH within the first year. While we do not support time off when you have accrued time, your PTO balance will be added to any time missed. We follow our client(s) training program and provide them with updates throughout the training period in an effort to partner for a better training experience. As an employer with 98% promotion from within, our opportunities for advancement are very fruitful for our employees. We do not hide the fact that our role has changed, we are now and have always been a customer service organization, making each customers experience the best. This includes identifying and offering new ways for the customer experience to improve and perhaps save our customers money. We are tech support and customer service bundled into an amazing experience for our customers! We wish you well in your new endeavors.
