Pros

You work from home and the job is fairly easy. Your peers are generally pretty cool people. Good learning experiences. The medical and dental were fairly good (in my opinion).

Cons

Where do I begin? The company actually used to be really great to work for. We were promised raises when the company became profitable. Through a partnership with a major cable and internet provider over the past two years we became profitable and the emptiness of that promise became clear in a communication from CEO Josh Pickus. One by one, benefits were removed. New hires get half the PTO that long time employees had gotten starting out. Shift differential went away starting Q2 of 2013 meaning no financial incentive to work late hours. The metrics system is fairly easily gamed and the bonuses that come from the incentive program don't offset the loss of differential pay for even the top employee. What a racket, right? Then we find out a few months ago the big money maker partnership we had with [cable/internet company] was going away but a new program with them was opening. This newer program relied on lower paid "Remote Service Technicians", a position that requires virtually no technical knowledge. So on one hand we have a lot of newly hired "techs" that are paid peanuts and in the other we have more highly paid (though not "well paid") actual technicians in a program that is being shut down. So what happened? Some techs were transferred, probably only the top most performers, and somewhere around 200 were laid off on December 30th as well as folks from various other unrelated departments. I estimate the company saved no less than $4 million from the layoffs, probably closer to 5 or 6 when you factor in benefits savings. While I understand why we were laid off, the way it was done was pretty horrible. Our chat server was taken offline and basically everyone was rounded up into a conference call and was told they were being laid off. No questions, just goodbye. This is after being told via email that everyone will still have their jobs and not to worry, etc. The company tends to operate like this in general, very big on keeping secrets and then springing stuff on people at the last minute. So, while this was a great place to work many years ago it is now an empty shell of the cool company it once was. Upper management is completely out of touch with what everyone else goes through on a daily basis. Middle management just says "yes sir" to everything and the front line employee has no voice. Management will pretend that they like feedback but they really don't. I should also mention that basically everyone still working there only does so at the will of this major cable and internet company they work with. They could pull their new program and it would queue another extremely large round of layoffs. As others have said, I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy at this point.

Pros

few good guys. not a bad pay if you did good in interview.

Cons

People in leadership are great for self, mediocre for company and hopeless for team. They aim no product direction and never learnt how to hire top notch techies or managers. Wish the company to listen, learn and change before turning to dust.

Pros

Work from home hired on skill rather than experience Interesting work medical/dental/vision

Cons

Recently laid off a little over a hundred, maybe hundred fifty employees. No one knew. They pulled our chat servers offline, had a meeting for supervisors and let them know a bunch of folks were getting let go. They pulled the chat servers offline to forcibly log-off anyone who was fired. No one was called or notified of termination, and we were told not to talk about it. There has been no reassurance from upper management that we're not going out of business. The closure of our major tenant that was like 70% of our business was announced, but we were all told our jobs were secure, as the business was coming back in-house. However, a day before the new year, they axed the entire staff of the department, and a large number of employees in still thriving (and busy) departments, leading me to believe the ship is sinking. I'd like to ask more about it, but I think I'd wind up on someone's list. Everyone is terrified, today. They will be tomorrow. We know now that our employer couldn't care less about us. Supervisors don't even know if they still have a team, or a full team. And NO ONE is answering these questions; we're not supposed to talk about it. You know how they fire you? They pull all your access. You can't even get into your employee email to figure out what's going on. If you call your supervisor, they say to call command. You call the command center, and they say to contact HR.... and HR? They don't answer the phones. I think HR is like one guy, and he's still busy at this moment posting ads on craiglist for our new, low paying position doing networking stuff. If you're thinking about applying here, hey, it's work from home, and you can get hands on experience on the front lines of malware caught in-the-wild. That's super, super fun. (although mostly toolbars, as you'd expect.) The employees are knowledgeable and there is a great hive-mind you can tap when you're stumped. ....if PTE positions EVER open up again. I'm starting to think we might be transitioning away from that whole thing. I don't know, because top brass doesn't seem to communicate plans of action anytime before or after putting them into action. A lot of folks are quitting. Morale is down. Maybe some spots will open up! No raises though, ever.
