Pros

Great co-workers, patient centered care, willingness of everyone to chip in and help. Resources available if you have the right connections and know how to work the many layers of middle management red tape.

Cons

Very weak leadership, most are nurse managers who are trying to run a multi-billion dollar operation. Way too much emphasis on meeting arbitrary goals for 'team building' programs rather than operational needs. Many middle and upper managers who won't roll up their sleeves and pitch in. Promotions often based on 'who you know' rather than 'what you know'. I had far more education and experience than the Administrator 2 steps above me. There ARE many layoffs and firings occurring 'under the radar' due to declining reimbursement rates and need to finance billion-dollar First Hill expansion project.

Pros

Great co-workers who actually care about patients.

Cons

Management does not care at all about their employees. Everyone can be replaced. Management promotes those they know will not stand up and advocate for their employees. They are under the thumb of their managers. No backbone.
