Pros

Competitive pay, promote and support employee advancement. The downtown facilities offer a very diverse patient population, exposure to a wide variety of pathologies/conditions, level 3 medical facility means more exposure to complicated cases, and a fast paced environment. All these things mean a great amount of experience in a relatively small amount of time when compared with outlying facilities within other healthcare systems or even Swedish itself.

Cons

Swedish has expanded too quickly, pouring an excess amount of money into new facilities and takeovers. The former has caused cannibalization of its own market with respect to downtown facilities. The latter has caused Swedish to hemorrhage money out of the three new facilities with the end result being significant cuts to staff, benefits, and prospective wages across all campuses. If you seek stability in the short term, this is not the place to take a job/career as the financial turmoil has yet to equalize. The focus has turned to the bottom line rather than effective and safe patient care. All of these changes have begun within the last 2 years.

Pros

Pay is comparable to Seattle metro area. PTO accrues rapidly if you don't make every weekend three days long. Health insurance is reasonably priced.

Cons

The work is repetitive, and often feels like an uphill battle. Management changes tech every couple of years with programs that either conflict with each other or don't work for a company of this size. Promotions are reserved for smoking buddies. The managers are all friends and if you cross one, you cross them all.

Pros

Support staff is great and most really look out for one another.

Cons

Coorporate executives should not be involved with something that should stay under management level when it comes to dealing with staff and clinic issues. Management should be given the necessary tools and training to deal with issues within their departments. 'Strings being pulled by Coorporate should be cut and power should be given to management to deal with their departments appropriately and should be there for advice or 'last option'. - Most departments seem like Doctors to run the show and management has no say. Too chaotic. It would be better if management and doctors worked together instead of against each other and Coorporate was there only for advice and direction, not directly involved with issues that can be resolved within departments.
