Pros

-Remote -Great Education & Certification Reimbursement -Great Floating Holiday Policy

Cons

I was significantly underpaid for the level of responsibility and experience I brought to the role. I left within 60 days and accepted another position that doubled my compensation. I was hired onto a new contract and, based on my experience, often found myself operating at or above the level of the leads; however, leadership and execution felt inconsistent, and the team appeared underprepared for the work, which created unnecessary disorganization. My recommendation is to ensure compensation aligns with market rates and to avoid making commitments (e.g., multiple raises within a year) unless they are guaranteed and clearly documented. I was hired into a junior (1–3 years) band despite having 7+ years of experience, and I wasn't paid accordingly. Overall, this may be a reasonable fit for fresh graduates, entry-level professionals, or individuals transitioning out of the military, but it did not feel like a strong long-term opportunity for more experienced candidates due to compensation and contract stability.

Pros

-- Colleagues and direct teammates are generally talented and hardworking -- Remote or hybrid options may exist depending on your role

Cons

-- Executive leadership functions more like a sales organization than a people-focused company -- Major changes following acquisition were downplayed or denied despite clear impacts -- Lack of a structured transition plan created confusion, frustration, and distrust -- Compensation assurances did not align with reality—benefits were reduced, 401(k) contributions declined, and year-end bonuses were eliminated without clear communication -- Repeated messaging of “business as usual” felt misleading as core aspects of employment changed -- Poor transparency and communication damaged morale and retention

Thank you for sharing your feedback. It’s pleasing to hear you found SPA to be a solid company that cares about its people. Providing top-flight resources and support to our employees remains a priority for leadership, which is why SPA has made significant investment into employee resources over the course of 2025, including the standing up of our Center for Development and Wellness Hub. We understand the importance of quick response times when it comes to HR matters. That’s why, in addition to division-aligned HRBP support personnel, our HR department is divided into specific functional areas designed to assist with the various types of HR requests. Furthermore, over the course of 2025, we have continued to try to improve support, rolling out a new and improved HRIS and making several strategic hires to better align assistance. Employees can locate and engage their appropriate HR teammate for support via Nexus, Footprints, etc., or reach out to their managers for support as always. We would also like to remind folks that anyone seated in the National Capital Region is welcome to visit our HR department in-person at HQ. Thank you again for sharing your feedback. Your comments will be helpful as we strive for continuous improvement.
