Pros

Flexible work hours, knowledgeable staff, amazing coworkers, mileage reimbursement and opportunity for productivity bonuses, good relationships with other local agencies. Working at Centerpoint Health/Talbert House allowed me to build lasting professional relationships and networks.

Cons

Since Centerpoint Health merged with Talbert House is has become more about growing the company than serving the clientele. Many of the policies and procedures would seem to make sense until they are implemented at the service level. Productivity is very unreasonable, to the point that most positions cannot truly be 40 hr a week positions when attempting to balance utilization, paperwork, and notes. Upper management does not take the time to ask employees at the service level for input about how the programs are working, nor the clients/ppl served. Employee's are grossly underpaid, especially for the size of the company. Extremely high and consistent employee turnover, further complicating the continuum of care that clients deserve.

Pros

Talbert House prioritizes promoting from within the company. There are many avenues for career development with free training provided through employment. Inclusive work space for all folks. Flexibility in scheduling. Great affordable health insurance and mental health coverage.

Cons

Pay increases that keep up with inflation. They are discussing ways to improve this.

Thank you for your review! As a health and human services agency, the wages we offer are mostly determined by the funding and reimbursement rates we receive from Medicaid. Our industry as a whole struggles to offer the most competitive wages in the market at large. That being said, our philosophy is to prioritize wages for our staff. Every year we review our compensation structure and adjust where we can. Our employees have told us time and again that they choose Talbert House because they believe in our mission, want to make a difference, and feel their career is meaningful and gives them a true sense of purpose. What an inspiration you all are!
