Pros

have a mission of helping others, and individual programs seem to do that. Fatherhood project, day programs, school programs, all are worthwhile.

Cons

Very low pay, not competitive with the mental health organization right around the block. poor management and too many of them. overhead absolutely ridiculous. too many directors, money in budgets that should be used towards client care have to go to supervisors and directors. none of the directors want anything to do with the ciients. they wear their suits and dresses and never enter the trenches. They actually encourage you to go into management and act like its superior to serving clients.

Pros

You'll have a hard time finding a nonprofit with a larger scale and scope of services in southwest Ohio. You'll have opportunities to help individuals and families in need using the skills you have. Talbert House focuses on developing from within. They provide many free training opportunities and chances for advancement. Opportunities for scholarships are available for certain degrees. Compensation is competitive when compared to other nonprofits and provides excellent benefits. Especially within the past year the organization has increased engagement with employees through a new onboarding orientation, employee appreciation days, a new health plan with no deductibles (as a result of employee surveys), focus groups, employee recognition awards, free training and development opportunities, and more.

Cons

At times Talbert House faces challenges most large organizations do, such as bureaucracy and communication issues, but I've seen that management cares about and listens to employees.

Pros

Met some awesome people (but they were all pushed out by poor management), liked providing direct client care ,flexibility.

Cons

Management! They all will lie and stab you in the back! You'll think that you're saying something in private but everyone will know. Management doesnt care about their staff or clients. All about money. Upper management is the same. I haven't met one person in a position of power that made me feel appreciated. Employees were concerned about their safety and management didn't care. Low pay and no incentives for working there. Management encouraged us to Provide very poor client care and treated the sick clients like criminals.
