Pros

Good company. Good employee discount. High quality product and styling which customers appreciate. Immediate management very knowledgeable and experienced and very will to share all of tat experience in training new employees

Cons

Low salary for high expectations of employees. Frequency of promotional changes make it difficult for sales staff to focus enough on the customer.

Pros

Great discount (40%-60%) to make the clothes more affordable, working with different clients every day is refreshing and adds diversity to your job.

Cons

I worked at this company for four years too long. Management follows an antiquated style of selling that doesn't allow the sales associate to develop their own unique style, time off is almost impossible to come by, and sales associates are seriously underpaid. In the four years that I worked here, I received two small raises. Most of the time you are understaffed and the turnover rate is incredibly high. Management never seems to want to hire anyone because if the store meets/exceeds their goals while coming under payroll the store managers get a bonus. Recently, the company has introduced management peer reviews but nothing has been done to change the disassociation between low-level tier sales associates and management

Pros

Talbots provides a warm, loyal, and healthy work culture. It is the best retailer I have worked for. Most of the clients are fun and pleasant to work with and our staff is great. It is a friendly and welcoming environment with a solid mission and an exceptional product.

Cons

The pay does not match the level of responsibility and the work load. It is becoming more and more difficult to balance the pros of the job with the low wage. Talbots has recently implemented a points based incentive program, but it does little to help with the basic necessities of life. I need to provide for my family and it is becoming a struggle.
